Ballet To Premiere in November
To give a unique head start on the usual holiday ballets will be a premiere of the fun-filled family show “The Holiday Gift ,” an original ballet inspired by the best of Nutcracker and the popular movie, “Frozen”. Performances will be held at the Spreckels Theater in Rohnert Park, Saturday, November 15 at 2 pm and 7 pm.
The 1878 World’s Fair in Paris, France is the setting for the ballet, created and choreographed by Martha O’Brien, director of The O’Brien Center of the Arts, and Ikolo Griffin, a lead artist also performing. With a cast from ages 5-85, classically trained dancers will perform the lively can-can, amazing dolls, snow fairies and princesses, and festive characters including ice skaters, penguins, pink poodles, and two sisters who will take the audience into a magical snowglobe (first introduced at this Fair), where they learn the greatest gift is love.
